meme n to ma ga m or i is a web interactive meditation on the intersection of two viruses, one biological and one memetic: COVID-19 and MAGA.
This WebGL interactive web installation spoofs the famous memento mori found in The Ambassadors (1533) by Hans Holbein the Younger. It achieves a dark, satirical presence by extrapolating Holbein’s use of a two-dimensional anamorphic projection into a three-dimensional anamorphism. Further, where through the use of anamorphism Holbein transformed viewing a painting into something rather more like a sculptural experience, this work transforms the viewing of a three-dimensional model into a four-dimensional space-time condition using WebGL and interactivity.
